Everyone Deserves A Smoke-Free Workplace

Veo Tyson – Bartender

“Everyone deserves a smoke-free workplace, even bartenders.”
Veo Tyson Bartender

When I first started bartending, smoking was accepted everywhere. I would help customers and the smoke would just flow into my face. It would get into my clothes. I actually felt like I was smoking. I’ve been bartending a long time, so I’ve had years of breathing other people’s smoke.

Luckily, I work at a nonsmoking bar now. The nonsmokers stay longer because they’re not bothered. The air is cleaner, and I feel like I can do this longer. I love what I do, and now I don’t have to worry about my health. Other bartenders aren’t as lucky; secondhand smoke can kill.

Doesn’t everyone deserve a healthy workplace?
